For this project we were requested to enable the widening of the existing highway, including the futureproofing of the underground drainage requirements as they relate to climate change. Before we could undertake any work a conditional survey was necessary to record any prevailing defects to the existing structures. To futureproof the drainage we provided new oversized underground storage pipes along with a flow restrictive device to attenuate the flow.  In addition to this we had to design a new kingpost retaining wall along the highway to enhance its visual appeal following the widening of the road and drainage works. This aspect had challenges due to proximity of the wall to the existing structures as well as to the highway itself.
