A new three-storey hybrid steel and cross laminated timber frame structure, designed to maximise natural light in a 77,000 sq ft open plan structure.

The raking aluminium and glass ziggurat façade leads to a roof structure with a lightwell flooding the full height atrium with daylight and a large photovoltaic array to generate emission free electricity.

Targeting a BREEAM Excellent environmental performance rating, Sky’s new innovation centre will be delivered with a significant focus on driving down embodied carbon, reducing waste through prefabrication and efficient design, and ensuring materials are responsibly sourced.

Bridges Pound have worked closedly with ISG to provide a number of temporay works solutions on the project, inluding a secondary steel frame design to support faceted drylining walls. The package of work includes the design of fully fixed SHS/RHS frames, some of which support fire resistant boards, designed to free stand in fire conditions.
